Executive Board

Spring Season Starts - Teams are formed in early April.  Practices begin mid-April, weather permitting.  Opening Day Jamboree is normally held on last Sunday in April/first Sunday in May.

Spring Season Ends normally 2nd week of June or when school year ends if earlier

Playing Locations - Sterling Field, Norfeldt Field, Hall H.S. and Conard H. S. Field

How teams are chosen - League Division Directors assemble Rookie and Training Division teams based on returning players and friend requests.  Minor, Major, and Junior Division coaches assemble teams based on skills assessments (all players are required to attend a skills assessment night in March) and team needs with the objective to equalize the level of talent.  Friend requests are also considered at the Minor Division level.

Register by Mail:   2024  WHGSL Registration Form  Download, print and mail with payment to address on the form.  Online registration is preferred.

Post-Season Playing Opportunities

Summer:  West Hartford Fury - WHGSL players interested in extending softball play into the summer are encouraged to tryout for 10U, 12U, middle school and high school teams that play within this competitive fastpitch league. 

• Tryouts are held in early June and will be announced shortly thereafter.
• Season typically begins mid to late June and concludes with the league tournaments in mid-August, and with All-Star games typically on the third Saturday in August. The regular season games usually begin at 6:00PM on weeknights, leaving weekends open for other pursuits  
• Registration Fees: TBD

In addition, WHGSL often fields 10U and 12U teams to compete in the Little League Series Tournament.  Additional information will be distributed by email during the spring season.

Fall: West Hartford Fury - WHGSL players interested in extending softball play into the fall season. 

• Teams organized based  on number of players interested per age group (potentially 10U, 12U, 14U)
• No tryouts
• Season begins late September/early October and runs through mid November.  Schedules depend on league. 
• Registration Fees: TBD

Volunteer Opportunities - WHGSL is always looking for volunteers.  Please consider volunteering as coach, assistant coach, scorekeeper, as well equipment manager/distribution, field maintenance, fundraising, etc.  Please be sure to indicate if you are able to volunteer when registering a player.  You will then be asked to complete your volunteer application online or using the paper Volunteer Application.
